Trial Sheds Light on Questionable Election for Anderson County Precinct 2 County Commissioners Race

Henderson, TX. (Feb. 20, 2007) – On February 20, 2007 it was determined that the ballots for the County Commissioners race in Anderson County for Precinct 2 from the November, 2006, election were counted incorrectly. This discovery resulted from a trial in which plaintiff candidate Larry Coker filed a petition to contest the election which Rashad Mims narrowly won. According to the petition, there were known problems with write-in ballots and voters possibly placing ballots in the wrong precinct.  As a result of the trial that was heard by visiting Judge Richard Davis, a new election will take place sometime later this year.

Attorney Ron Adkison, who represented Larry Coker had this to say, “We think the will of the voters needs to be clear from the election returns. I think the point that everyone could agree with is that the will of the voter was not expressed in the last election and that is what the process is all about.” Adkison was quoted in the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Widely known as an advocate for small business owners, employees and individuals, Mr. Adkison has a popular reputation for taking on large corporations and public entities in the courtroom, with great success for his clients.
